Tax Forms, Notary Services & Voter Registration

The Library is pleased to offer several free, courtesy, public services to our community. If you have any questions about our Notary Service, Voter Registration, or available tax forms, please contact the Adult Services Desk at (847) 623-2041 ext. 238.

Notary Service

If you need a document notarized, please first call (847) 623-2041 ext. 238, learn when the notary public is available, and then visit the Adult Services Desk at the Library. This service is free, however Notary service is not guaranteed. There are currently no Spanish speaking notaries.

In preparation to have a document notarized at the library:

  1. Bring current, valid identification issued by a state or federal agency that includes your photo and your signature. Examples of such ID include a current driver’s license, state ID card, U.S. Military ID, or U.S. Passport.
  2. Do not sign the document beforehand. You must sign the documents in front of the Notary. All people signing the document(s) must be present.

We are unable to notarize:

    • Government Form I-9
    • Employment Eligibility Verification
    • Documents of conveyance of real estate, mortgages, other real estate loans, documents or transactions or property transfers, including but not limited to refinancing or other types of real estate loans, purchases, sales, and beneficial interests in land trusts and deeds
    • Wills, living wills, living trusts, powers of attorney, codicils or depositions

These types of documents can require technical or legal knowledge that is beyond the scope of this free service.

Please note: In accordance with Illinois Notarial Law the Library Notary may at their sole discretion, decline to provide Notary Service. Notaries are not authorized to prepare or complete documents for others. A library notary public is not an attorney that is licensed to practice law in Illinois, and may not give legal advice or accept fees for legal advice.
