How to get started

  1. Request materials on our catalog or call 847-623-2041 ext. 236
  2. Once you receive a notice that your materials are ready, you can stop by to pick up your materials.
  3. Call (847) 623-2041 when you arrive and a staff member will bring your materials to your car and place them in your trunk. Enjoy!

 

  1. WPL will deliver the materials you put on hold at the Main Library to your door once a week on either Tuesday or Thursday between 1pm and 4pm — you don’t have to be home for delivery!
  2. Unfortunately, the library can’t deliver video games or Wi-Fi Hotspots and we can’t take money for replacement fees at your door.
  3. The library will send you an e-mail like usual when your items are available but will hold your items until your weekly delivery day. There’s no need to come pick them up.
  4. On the day of delivery you will receive a call or an e-mail with the time window of the delivery and the number of items you will receive.
  5. Library materials and the library bags can be returned by putting them in the book drops. You can also return materials by leaving them on the doorstep, in a library bag or a plastic bag with a note attached saying “Library.”
  6. Just as a reminder, the library is Fine-Free. There are no late fees on any items!

*You can also pick up items in the library during regular hours of operation.

FAQ’s

Locate the desired item in the catalog. Click “Request” which is located either below the title, or just near the top, just below the gray line. You will be prompted to enter your name and library card number, and select the location (Main Library) to pick up your hold. The system will tell you if your request has been successful or not. When the item is ready, the library will notify you by e-mail notification or a phone call, depending on what you have selected in your Personal Information.
Note: You can also call 847-623-2041 ext 236 to place items on hold for pick up.
If you are a resident of the Waukegan Public Library district, you can make an appointment to get a library by calling 847-775-2538 or sign-up for a temporary library card (application here).
Items can be returned in the book drop located on Martin Luther King Dr. behind the Main Library. Items can also be returned in the book drop located in the parking lot at the Waukegan Park District Field House Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Center.
