Section 1

The Role of a Library Trustee

In order to provide quality library service, the Library requires a working team of an Executive Director and nine members of the Board of Trustees who are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. It is critical that members of the Board be engaged, informed, and willing to perform the duties of a Trustee. Trustees provide oversight of library policies and budget, employ and evaluate the Executive Director, assist with evaluating library use and long-range planning, and are advocates for the library within the community and with library partners.

The Trustee position, in general, may take a commitment of 4-6 hours per month. This includes one or two meetings (the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month) and preparation for each. Are you able to commit to this amount of time? *
