Former employee leaves library large donation

The Waukegan Public Library will benefit from a $98,000.00 bequest from the estate of Eleanor Moore, announced by her Declaration of Trust dated June 4, 2001. This bequest is the largest permanent gift to the Library.

The generous gift helps to insure the library’s continued ability to support the educational needs of the Waukegan community through free classes, programs, and literacy support for all ages.

Moore, who died on April 21, 2012 at age 97, was a former employee of the Waukegan Public Library as a part-time circulation clerk. She was also a resident of Waukegan for 85 years and graduate and teacher of Waukegan Township High School for 40 years. She was a member of many local organizations, including the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters, Chapter AP of CEO, the Garden Club and Glen Flora Country Club.

Eleanor Moore joins Ray Bradbury in the Bradbury Legacy Circle, a group of donors leaving a portion of their estate to the Waukegan Public Library Foundation.
